Crack have unleashed a veritable smorgasbord of wonderful styles and musical nuances that hearken back to the glory days when progressive rock was declining in popularity in other parts of the world. These guys seemed to have ignored that trend and pursued their own aspirations in concocting a great medley of songs for our delectation.
Crack utilize a great assortment of keyboards, guitars, flutes, bass and percussion that will remind you of Gotic's Escenes which is also a minor masterpiece in its own right. Special mention should be directed to the keyboard player who possesses the enviable ability to create some lush and wonderful backdrops to what is essentially a very melodic and beautiful set of songs that range from 2.20 minutes to over 10 minutes for the title track. There is enough mellotron for any Tony Banks fan and plenty of piano to boot. Vocals, in Spanish, while fairly sparse, are certainly not intrusive and have almost the same degree of emotion and passion of our famous Italian virtuosos.
This is another great example of how other countries throughout the world handled their interpretation of what progressive music should sound like. As there is certainly no regimented formula by which progressive bands should write their music, these guys have done their best in delivering their particular viewpoint on things from a region that was not considered to be overly endowed with progressive rock musicians. If you like any of the better known Spanish stalwarts like Triana, Itoiz, Iman, Cai or Los Canarios, you should enjoy this. Top marks for a great effort.
