How most continue to ignore Gentle Giant's debut, is a wonder upon itself.

Gentle Giant is a fanatstic if not, one of the greatest debut albums of the "golden" era of progressive rock. And unlike their contemporaries, the medieval and madrigal pretentions that placed Gentle Giant in a class of their own, were prevelant on their debut, making this album an even more definite must-have amongst true progressive rock collectors.

The top songs on this astonishing album are the beautiful ballad strecthed to jam, "Nothing At All", the all too short, but excellent "Funny Ways" and the lovely "Why Not" which always seemed like the band having fun in studio.

Gentle Giant like all debuts from legendary bands, might not measure up to some of the band's later works, but I dare to say that there aren't too many debuts that actually is a good indication not only of the the band's ambitions but how good the band will be as well.
