Jazz rock with a nice vibe. Karsten Vogel comes in on a variety of Saxes and seems to overshadow most other instruments on six of the seven tracks.

Track one starts with very avant feel with Didjeeridoo (sic) some nice biting guitar work and great bass. After track 1, there is a bit of sameness with sax, synth and programmed drums. All instrumental but not much variation. There are times when a song will venture into avant territory but never quite get there. Whilst I like sax music too much can get a bit overbearing.

I would have liked to hear more of the biting guitar work that came in flashes. More of the didge and violin they used only on track one would have “broken up” the sax to give a bit more variety in the tracks.

Competent musicians, very competent but I feel something is lacking in this CD. It is not a bad CD, in fact it is quite good. The jazz rock vibe is nice, there is a lot of promise that I think could have been taken further.

8/15
