Javascript must be enabled in your browser in order for many of the links at Progressive Ears to work. Take the following steps to enable Javascript in your browser: 1. Pull down your browser's Tools menu and click on Internet Options. You will see the Internet Options dialog box that looks something like this:
2. Click the Security tab in the dialog box. 3. Click the Internet icon in the dialog box. 4. Click the Custom Level button. This will open the Security Settings dialog box that looks like this:
5. This dialog box contains numerous browser settings. The one we are interested in is in the section headed "Scripting." Scroll down until you find the scripting section of options and find the Active Scripting option. Click the Enable button to turn on Javascript. 6. Click the OK button in the Security Settings dialog box. 7. Click the OK button in the Internet Options dialog box. Cookies Cookies must be enabled in your browser in order for the Progressive Ears web site to recognize you as a member who is logged in. Take the following steps to enable cookies in your browser: 1. Pull down your browser's Tools menu and click on Internet Options. You will see the Internet Options dialog box that looks something like this:
2. Click the Privacy tab in the dialog box. 3. Move the slider to the Low or Medium position (other positions may work, but we suggest using Low or Medium). 4. Click the OK button in the Internet Options dialog box. Optional Many people are uncomfortable setting their cookies at low settings. Cookies are an excellent feature of the web, but they do have some drawbacks. If you do not wish to set your cookies to the Low or Medium setting, there is a way to allow your browser to accept cookies from Progressive Ears while still disallowing cookies for other sites. Taking the following steps will enable cookies for the Progressive Ears web site only. After taking the following steps, you can set your cookies (using the slider) to any setting you prefer. 1. Pull down your browser's Tools menu and click on Internet Options. You will see the Internet Options dialog box that looks something like this:
2. Click the Privacy tab in the dialog box. 3. In the Web Sites section of the dialog box, click the Edit button. Note, if your cookies are set to the Block All Cookies setting, the Edit button will be disabled. You must use the slider to temporarily set your cookies to one of the lower settings to enable this button. Clicking the Edit button, will open the Per Site Privacy Actions dialog box that looks like this:
4. In the Address of Web Site text box, type "progressiveears.com" (without the quotation marks). 5. Click the Allow button. After clicking the Allow button, "progressiveears.com" should appear in the Managed Web Sites area with a setting of Always Allow. 6. Click the OK button in the Per Site Privacy Actions dialog box. 7. Click the OK button in the Internet Options dialog box. Other Settings There is one other setting in Internet Explorer that we suggest you implement. This setting does not change the way the Progressive Ears web site performs, but it will help us enormously in troubleshooting any problems you may have with the site. Internet Explorer by default does not display very helpful error messages. In order to enable detailed error messages, you must take the following steps: 1. Pull down your browser's Tools menu and click on Internet Options. You will see the Internet Options dialog box that looks something like this:
2. Click the Advanced tab in the dialog box. 3. There are numerous settings in this dialog box. Scroll down the list until you find the setting for Show Friendly HTTP Error Messages. UNCheck this box. 4. Click the OK button in the Internet Options dialog box. All Rights Reserved |
